Pinot Noir

Monterey

This wine comes from a small benchland vineyard on the Chalone estate approximately 1,800 feet in elevation, near the Pinnacles National Park within Monterey County. Vines grow on sparse, reddish soil underlain by limestone that ribbons through the property. Thus each bottle is filled with the essence of the soil – the French gout de terrior – which gives the wine a fullness of bouquet and flavor unique to this vineyard. Aged entirely in French oak barrels, this Pinot Noir rewards cellaring and will age gracefully for years to come.

Tasting Notes

The Chalone 2024 Reserve Pinot Noir is complex and expressive, opening with layers of cherry, cranberry, and raspberry interwoven with notes of earth, dried herbs, vanilla, and sweet oak spice. On the palate, the wine is broad and finely textured, revealing deep flavors of dark cherry, cocoa, and baking spice. The signature limestone-driven minerality brings vibrant freshness and structure, leading to a persistent finish marked by subtle leather, savory nuances, and refined oak spice. This elegant profile makes it an exceptional match for food pairings like grilled salmon with cherry compote or herb-roasted poultry.
